Tarwirri Executive Officer speaks at the LIV during Reconciliation Week 2026

Tarwirri Executive Officer Tekan Cochrane was honoured to join the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) during Reconciliation Week as a guest speaker.

Tekan spoke about her role as Executive Officer of Tarwirri Indigenous Law Association of Victoria and the important work Tarwirri undertakes to support, connect and strengthen opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the legal sector.

The conversation provided an opportunity to share more about Tarwirri’s work, the experiences of First Nations peoples in the legal profession and the importance of creating stronger pathways, representation and support for First Nations lawyers, law students and emerging legal professionals.

Tarwirri is grateful to the LIV for providing a platform to share these perspectives and for its continued support of First Nations peoples and reconciliation within the legal profession.

Reconciliation requires more than words. It requires organisations to listen, build relationships and take meaningful action. Tarwirri is proud to contribute to these conversations and to continue working alongside organisations across the legal profession to create positive change.
